The 5 Love Languages is a concept originating from Dr. Gary Chapman’s The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate. It explores the different ways love and appreciation is expressed and felt. My objective was to design a zine booklet explaining the concept with a playful mascot visual novel style. The information is presented in a light-hearted way for a fun and sweet thought-provoking experience.
I decided to go in the cute style direction with animal mascots, visual novel layouts, and pastel colors. Going forward with the video game concept, I wanted the reader to become the protagonist who experiences different scenarios with different characters. This way, they can easily see themselves reacting to the different love languages and find the ones that resonate with them the most. I had the most fun designing the representative mascots and icons! I also enjoyed writing the playful but instructive pairing text.
